While the Superbowl may just be the single most watched event on a single day, and the World Cup may have the largest viewership amongst the countries around the world; March Madness captures more total views, more teams, more games, for more hours, that have the most brackets, by the most people, and see more betting interest, over the course of the month, than anything else in sports, or other kind of tournament this country has ever seen. Even non basketball fans get involved and to some degree, most employers and businesses either benefit from the event, or lose production from it due to employees being distracted or just plain out of work!
With all this interest, you would be silly not to take advantage of all the social interaction from sports bars to social clubs, to office pools, to the actual games themselves either by attending the games or just watching them on TV. The NCAA
Men’s Basketball Tournament controls the attention of MILLIONS of people over WEEKS of activity. Throw in the NIT and NCAA Women’s event, and March is all about basketball, and people love their basketball!
You don’t have to be an expert in basketball to enjoy it, but you should realize that the potential social interaction can be a very powerful business booster! Just being visible goes a long way in burning brain cells of the people engaged in the activities. Sharing posts on social media or just connecting with friends and family at the sports bar, cheering on your team or supporting someone else can help put you in a position to help that person buy, sell, or refinance a house; or maybe just have them recommend you to someone they know who needs your help! Either way, personal social engagement opportunities are never going to be easier than they are during March Madness!
So, take a few minutes and come up with a plan on how to connect, where to connect, and most importantly, sharing those connections through your social media outlets to further connect with more and more people. And while people are talking about spring training in baseball, the NFL draft approaching, the next golf tournament, or some regular season NBA or NHL game; College basketball is the true GIANT of sports during March Madness, so be sure you get out and enjoy yourself and connect with all the potential opportunities!
