Before, during, and after the storm!

I had to post a little early this week in advance of Milton’s arrival. You live in South Florida long enough, you kind of go into “hurricane mode” and do what you need to do in advance of a pending storm. Most who live here are prepared, some are not. So as Milton bears down on the Gulf coast of Florida, I thought about how my own preparation for such storms is similar to much of my coaching and training is for those I help navigate our industry. Nothing helps like a proven plan to provide comfort and confidence when things get thrown at us that are beyond our control. Panic never helps, preparation is never wasted time! Control what you can and know what you need to be doing before, during, and after these outside forces impact you, your family, and your business. And just like the flight attendant says in pre-flight instructions about the potential loss of cabin pressure; put your mask on first before attempting to assist others! The same holds true for you and your business!

Now is the preparation phase of the business planning cycle. Collect your data and compare that information with your projections. What are the numbers telling us? What is going better? What is what we thought? What isn’t doing what we thought it would do? Doesn’t matter if it’s specific referral partners or marketing plans, you need to compare so you can adjust going forward. Speaking of going forward, be brutally honest with yourself if the results you are seeing are based upon your own best efforts. You can’t rely on the outcome if you didn’t put forward the effort you had put in your plan. Besides, if you aren’t honest with yourself, who can you really be honest with?

So, keep those you know in the storm damaged areas from the last hurricane that went through Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia in your thoughts and prayers; maybe reach out to those you know and do what you can to help! Looks like Milton will be just a Florida event, but coming right after the other storm, these people are really going to need all the love and support we can muster!

Initial and continuing claims Thursday along with CPI numbers. Friday we will get PPI numbers; all of these are potentially are market movers. Questions or comments: [email protected]
